BACKGROUND:
Each year, Public Works staff identifies drinking water and wastewater system improvements as part of the continual evaluation and maintenance of the systems. Typically, two groups of projects are designed by staff per year: Group A and Group B. This year the Group A projects are water main replacements. The goal of these projects is to focus on older cast iron pipes. The projects are located along segments of Pyramid Drive, Heartside Place, Janwood Lane, and Tom Field Road. The water mains scheduled to be replaced in these locations are approximately 6,635 linear feet of 6- and 8-inch cast iron mains installed in the mid-1950s to late 1960s. The proposed replacement pipe is PVC. The project followed the bidding process.
DISCUSSION:
The Public Works Department received three bids for the Water Main Replacement 2024 Group A Project, and all bids met specifications. Muniz Construction, Inc. submitted the lowest bid in the amount of $2,206,030. Reference checks were performed by staff.

This budgeted project is expensed from the Capital Improvement Utility Non-Bond Fund.
RECOMMENDATION:
City Administration recommends approving Resolution No. 2024-027 as presented.
