Receive an update on the compost education event

BACKGROUND:
The Built & Natural Environment subcommittee has discussed methods to increase the diversion of compostable waste from the landfill. Earlier this year, the City published a survey to residents in order to identify composting patterns and barriers. A primary barrier for those residents who do not currently compost was that they didn’t have the knowledge or experience to successfully compost at their homes. In order to address this, the Public Works Department will provide a composting workshop for residents to learn from a Master Composter.
The event is scheduled for the morning of September 14th. Additional details are to be determined.
The Committee will discuss the learning outcomes of the workshop, target audience, barriers to successful composting, and desired results.
