BACKGROUND:
The Branch Connection is currently undergoing renovations. This purchase entails acquiring 200 armless chairs, 50 chairs with arms, three chair dollies, and delivery and installation of the new ballroom chairs to align with the refreshed aesthetics of the updated ballroom. These chairs will replace the existing nine-year-old chairs.
The new high-quality chairs will complement the facility's aesthetics post-renovation. Designed to be easier to stack, they will optimize storage space when not in use, reducing the need to line chairs along the ballroom walls.
DISCUSSION:
The proposed ballroom chairs were carefully selected. At their regularly scheduled May 2024 meeting, the Senior Advisory Board received a presentation that provided examples of chair options. The Board supported acquiring the selected ballroom chairs.
The chairs are being procured using the cooperative purchasing process. The chairs are manufactured by SitOnit. The chairs are sold by multiple dealers, staff has chosen local vendor GL Seaman and Company as the vendor for this purchase. GL Seaman and Company is utilizing the Exemplis Ominia Partner Purchasing Cooperative Contract #R191803 and is listed as a Texas Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) vendor. The other authorized dealers of SitOnit products that were contacted by staff for quotes were: Alfred Williams and Company, Government Solutions Inc., Office Chairs USA, and HB Workplaces. Staff did not receive responses from the vendors listed above for quotes except from GL Seaman and Company.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The financial impact on The Branch Connection Division's budget account is $77,879. This is under the original $80,000 budgeted in the current FY24 budget.
