BACKGROUND:
The parcel at 1600 Valley View Lane consists of 12.418 acres, and it was originally planned for retail uses, a grocery store, and a park.
An analysis commissioned by the property owner showed that Aldi would be the top store within a mile radius and would be categorized as the best fit. Other stores such as Natural Grocers, Sprouts, and Trader Joe’s were also considered. Due to the low volume compared to the square footage, the other three options would not be viable or feasible.
DISCUSSION:
Staff would like to receive council direction to speak with the current property owner about commissioning another grocery analysis or examining other viable options.
