Public Works Department
BACKGROUND:
The Public Works Department has negotiated a professional services agreement with Teague, Nall, and Perkins Inc. (TNP) for the design of the storm sewer replacement from Nestle Drive running along Valley View Lane heading south starting at the DART rail line until the outfall of Rawhide Creek. This project would include enlarging the existing 60-inch storm sewer line to an 8'x 5' concrete box culvert, replacing approximately 1,950 linear feet from Rawhide Creek to Valley View Lane. This improvement was identified and recommended in the "Drainage Memorandum" prepared by TNP, which is also attached to this item. The study was initiated due to flooding and drainage issues during storm events within Valley View Lane, Bee Street, and Goodland Street.
DISCUSSION:
The improvements include upsizing the storm sewer system with box culverts, replacing the outfall structure, and replacing junction boxes at various locations along Valley View. These improvements are intended to improve drainage conditions within Valley View Lane and adjacent side street intersections within the subject area. Construction costs will be 60% covered by the DART ILA funding, with the remaining 40% covered by the City's stormwater CIP fund.
