BACKGROUND:
Staff will provide an update on SolSmart, a national recognition program for local governments that provides free technical assistance to help make solar energy more affordable and accessible to residents. As part of the program, SolSmart has conducted an initial review of the Farmers Branch Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance (CZO) and provided suggestions for possible improvements and clarification regarding solar energy.
These recommendations are optional, and can be implemented through future amendments to the CZO at the direction of City Council. No ordinance amendments are proposed at this time. Staff is seeking preliminary feedback from the Planning and Zoning Commission regarding the SolSmart program.
