BACKGROUND:
Dallas County Health and Human Services is extending its Overdose Response Team (ORT) Program for the entire county. This free outreach program utilizes 911 data to identify key addresses and individuals in need of support. The Overdose Response Team comprises a registered nurse, a peer support specialist, and a social worker. Dallas County Health and Human Services generates leads using 911 data, which is securely provided through an Interlocal Agreement (ILA).
The primary focus of the ORT is to conduct follow-up visits with individuals who have recently experienced an overdose and are struggling with substance use disorder. These teams are equipped with naloxone, are trained in CPR, and perform physical health checks. In addition, they engage individuals in conversations regarding treatment and recovery options.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no financial impact. Farmers Branch's only requirement is to enter the ILA with Dallas County Health and Human Services to share 911 data via a secured file transfer.
