INTRODUCTION BY THE MAYOR:
On behalf of the City of Farmers Branch City Council, I am honored to recognize and present the DFW Directors Association Award to the Parks and Recreation Department for the Gateway to the Globe Multicultural celebration event.
BACKGROUND:
This award recognizes innovation, leadership, and vision in providing arts, culture, and entertainment in a community.
On March 23, 2024, the City of Farmers Branch hosted its first Multicultural Event, marking a significant milestone in our community’s commitment to celebrating cultural values. The event, produced by the Parks and Recreation Department with the invaluable support of our City Council, City Management, Facilities, Communications, Police, and Fire Departments, was a true community effort. A Multicultural Committee consisting of passionate Farmers Branch residents played a key role in the planning and facilitation, ensuring that the event reflected the unique vibrancy and diversity of North Texas. This family-friendly event was not just a celebration of the many cultures within our city but also a showcase for the broader region, bringing together people from all walks of life to share in the rich tapestry of traditions, music, art, and food that make our community so special.
