This is one of two Dallas Water Utility delivery points. Recently, Public Works Staff identified a significant water leak inside the Wicker pump station building. Staff's attempts to identify the source of the leak were unsuccessful. Wicker has two pump stations for redundancy to avoid significant water service disruption. If the second pump station were to go offline, it could negatively affect the City's water distribution system and trigger potential action by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
Public Works secured a quote with Felix Construction Company, specializing in municipal pump yard repairs. The repair quote is estimated at $179,415, with an additional $50,000 contingency for materials and labor required to address unforeseen emergency repairs. The Contractor and City Staff have developed a repair scope based on previous repairs and operational knowledge of the pump station. The job will require the removal of the roof hatch to remove the pumps for visual inspection and to determine what additional repairs are needed beyond the repair scope.
