DISCUSSION:
The City Attorney will provide information regarding the following item:
• Research how the residency requirements for being on the City Council can be strengthened in the Charter.
• Draft language to be presented at the June meeting regarding the creation of a Transit Committee that will be called every fourth year before the City may call for an election to exit Dallas Area Rapid Transit. Determine where it would be placed within the Charter.
• Provide options for proposed new language related to the sentence below in Section 2.13 - Induction of council into office as it relates to remote attendance not being allowed.Current language in the Charter reads as follows: “Councilmembers must attend meetings in person; except in the event of a declared emergency, a member of the council not physically present at a meeting shall be regarded as absent.”
