BACKGROUND:
Since 2022, the City of Farmers Branch has employed a comprehensive cybersecurity monitoring and vulnerability management system to safeguard its network infrastructure, systems, and data against evolving threats. This platform is crucial for identifying, assessing, and responding to potential security risks in real-time, ensuring the ongoing protection of City operations and sensitive information.
Ongoing support and maintenance are necessary to ensure the system remains effective, receives regular updates, and provides access to technical expertise for rapid threat detection and response.
DISCUSSION:
Council will discuss renewing the City’s annual maintenance and support agreement for its cybersecurity monitoring and vulnerability management system. This system provides essential services, including real-time threat detection, vulnerability scanning, incident response capabilities, and detailed reporting.
Renewing the agreement ensures that the City continues to receive security updates, software improvements, cloud-based analytics, and 24/7 technical support-all vital to maintaining a robust cybersecurity posture.
The software suite provides critical tools that the City’s Information Technology staff use to continuously monitor system activity, evaluate network vulnerabilities, and proactively mitigate potential security threats-helping to safeguard City operations and protect sensitive data.
The total cost of the three-year agreement will not exceed $264,000. The City will utilize an approved cooperative purchasing contract to complete the procurement, ensuring compliance with state purchasing regulations and access to competitively negotiated pricing.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This expenditure has been included in the current fiscal year budget and will be funded through the City’s Information Technology operating budget.
