This agenda item allows the Committee members and staff to report, discuss, and exchange information regarding a sub-committee.
The FY 24-25 sub-committees are:
• Arts & Culture in Public Spaces
• Artist Outreach
• Arts & Culture Festivals
• Strategic Planning
Arts & Culture in Public Spaces
Staff and sub-committee members will be present to provide an update on the project.
Attached are the proposed art locations for the Westside Art Trail as recommended by the sub-committee.
Artist Outreach
Staff will provide an update on yard signs.
An email will be sent by staff to all artists listed in the Artist Directory informing them that Arts and Culture yard signs will be available for pick-up at several upcoming fall events throughout the City:
- Haunts and Houses – Thursday, October 16, 2025, from 4–6 p.m. at the Historical Park
- Halloween in the Park – Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 5–10 p.m. at the Historical Park
- Branch Arts Live – Sunday, October 26, 2025, from 12:45–4 p.m. at Gussie Field Watterworth Park
- Day of the Dead Celebration – Thursday, October 30, 2025, from 6:30–9:30 p.m. at the Historical Park
Signs will be available at the Parks and Recreation Marketing Tent or the Arts and Culture Table at each event. Arts and Culture Committee volunteers will be needed to assist with distributing signs. A volunteer sign-up sheet will be passed around at each committee meeting leading up to the events.
Arts & Culture Festivals
The Sub-committee will provide an update on Branch Arts Live, scheduled for Sunday, October 26, 2025, from 12:45–4:00 p.m. at Gussie Field Watterworth Park. Volunteers will be needed. The Call for Artists flyer is attached, and a marketing flyer is in development for promotion on social media platforms.
Strategic Planning
No report from the sub-committee was submitted at the time of this report.
Events Review
The sub-committee met on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall. No written report was submitted at the time of this report; however, a sub-committee member will provide a verbal update at the meeting.
The City of Farmers Branch recently launched a major redesign of the official website to improve accessibility and ease of use for residents.
Website Enhancements Include:
- Cleaner design for improved readability.
- Simplified navigation structure.
- Enhanced search function, including a “Popular Searches” feature.
- Mobile-friendly display across all devices.
- Expanded features such as:
- A separated calendar and new categorized sections.
- Color-coded alert banners for important announcements.
- A new Farmers Branch Events page with a comprehensive City event calendar.
Website feedback forms are available at farmersbranchtx.gov for residents to submit comments or report issues.
Under this sub-committee, Committee members are able to discuss and give feedback on any activities or events attend in the City of Farmers Branch.
