Consider approving Resolution No. 2024-168 authorizing the City Manager to execute a first amendment to the professional services agreement with Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc. for the design of the Farmers Branch Creek Erosion Control Project Reach 2 in the amount of $70,378.60; and take appropriate action.
Body
REQUESTER:
Public Works Department
BACKGROUND:
On December 15, 2020, the City Council approved Resolution No. 2020-052 authorizing a professional services agreement with Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc. to survey, assess project compliance with federal regulations, perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, structural analysis, and design erosion control and bank stabilization improvements along Farmers Branch Creek between to Brincrest Drive and Lost Valley Drive. The design is completed. However, recent storm events in May 2024 caused further erosion on the property adjacent to the original project area. The engineering staff has evaluated the erosion and determined that the scope needed to include that area as part of the design to ensure the banks were reinforced for the upcoming construction project.
To ensure that the project includes all necessary erosion improvements at this site, the Public Works Department is requesting an addition to the scope of project limits and services provided, including design, hydraulic modeling and analysis, survey, bid, and construction phase services.
