Arts & Culture in Public Spaces

Theme wrapped traffic signal box locations have been decided.  Staff is working with Rachael Johnson, Marketing Manager, to create individual box designs.  Installation is scheduled for summer 2025.

Staff will be present to discuss a possible donation.

Artist Outreach

Staff created an Artist Directory database from the Artist Directory Listing.  In May an email was sent to the database sharing the opportunity for Art Boost 2025 - Business Council for the Arts. In June an email was sent to the database sharing the opportunity to attend the City’s various Pop-Up events celebrating National Parks and Recreation Month.  Staff will monitor the listing and add new artists to the database.

Staff has updated the wording to clarify requirements for being listed in the Artist Directory:

CALL FOR ARTISTS

The City of Farmers Branch and the Arts & Culture Committee is keeping a database of artists to help foster, promote, and elevate the visual and performing arts within the City of Farmers Branch.

If you or someone you know is a local artist: live, work, and/or study in Farmers Branch, please add your information to the listing by selecting Add Listing.

If you are an artist associated with an area art association, please select View Listing, if your association is not listed, please add the association’s information to the listing by selecting Add Listing.

This directory will provide a resource to the Arts & Culture Committee as they work to incorporate local art in Farmers Branch as well as be a resource for the community and businesses that are looking for local artists.

To view a listing of all artists, visit <http://artsandculturefbtx.com/>, and select the Artist Directory button at the bottom of the page, and then select View All Listing (under the black Find Listings button).

Yard signs will be distributed to artists listed in the Artist Directory in the coming months.  The sign will include the wording “I’m a Farmers Branch ARTIST!” with the Arts & Culture logo.

Arts & Culture Festivals

Branch Arts Live to be held on Sunday, October 19, 2025 from 1 - 4 p.m.  The City to provide basic infrastructure: stage, tent, security, and food and water for volunteers pending the approval of the FY 25-26 budget by City Council.

Strategic Planning

Long term Arts & Culture Committee fundraising opportunities through a 501(c)3 Friends of the Arts & Culture Committee or similar group/organization that benefits the Arts & Culture Committee’s mission. Attached are the Friends of the Historical Park’s Constitution and By-Laws for reference.
