INTRODUCTION BY THE MAYOR:
The City of Farmers Branch has a strong culture that nurtures RESPECT, where we value everyone’s opinion and acknowledge their perspective. We strive for EXCELLENCE, and constantly look for ways to do our very best. We believe in ACCOUNTABILITY. We CARE and TRUST. These are the City’s core values. This is our culture - REACT.
The Leadership of the City of Farmers Branch appreciates the effort, dedication, and time our employees put into their jobs. The City has a program to recognize employees for depicting these values. We appreciate and recognize our employees’ hard work and efforts. Tonight, we recognize Rafael Ochoteco-Guiterez, Animal Services Officer, as our Employee of the Month for the month of May.
The Employee of the Month award does not merely recognize fulfilling job responsibilities; it’s about going above and beyond, especially under challenging circumstances. Despite ongoing staffing shortages within our department, Rafael stepped forward without hesitation. He voluntarily took on additional shelter duties, not as an obligation, but out of a true sense of commitment, while continuing to perform his primary duties as an Animal Services Officer.
Rafael has accomplished all of this while recovering from an on-the-job injury, an incident entirely beyond his control. Rafael demonstrated remarkable humility and resilience, pushing forward without complaint or seeking recognition.
In fact, on May 5th, Rafael single-handedly cared for every animal in the shelter, all while responding to animal control calls throughout the day. His accountability, unwavering dedication, and quiet excellence exemplify the very best of what it means to serve our community.
Rafael, your service embodies the values we hold dear in Farmers Branch. On behalf of the City, your colleagues, and the residents you serve, thank you.
