Consider authorizing the City Manager to enter into agreements with the following organizations for funding approved in the 2013-2014 fiscal year budget and take appropriate action:

B. Metrocrest Chamber of Commerce
C. Metrocrest Social Services
D. The Family Place
E. Metrocrest Community Clinic
F. Bea’s Kids

BACKGROUND:
Each year the City provides funding to charitable organizations for services and/or programs. Funds were included in the 2013-2014 fiscal year budget for the agencies and organizations listed above. City Administration has worked with the organizations that are funded in this fiscal year budget to develop contracts for services and/or programs that will be provided to the City or residents. The contracts outline services to be provided, financial reporting requirements, where appropriate, and submission of a fiscal year financial statement provided by a certified public accountant is also required.
DISCUSSION:
Most of the contracts are substantially the same as they were in the 2012-2013 budget year. However, the contract for Metrocrest Social Services has been modified due to the merger of Metrocrest Social Services and Senior Adult Services. Additionally, Bea’s Kids was approved for funding in this year’s budget.
The contracts for each organization are brought before City Council for consideration at this time.
RECOMMENDATION:
City Administration recommends the City Council authorize the City Manager to enter into agreements with the organizations listed above.
ACTIONS:
1) Motion to authorize the City Manager to enter into agreements with the following organizations for funding as approved in the 2013-2014 fiscal year budget:
• Farmers Branch Chamber of Commerce
• Metrocrest Chamber of Commerce
• Metrocrest Social Services
• The Family Place
• Metrocrest Community Clinic
• Bea’s Kids
2) Motion to deny authorization for the City Manager to enter into agreements with the organization for funding as approved in the 2013-2014 fiscal year budget.
3) Motion to modify to meet the needs of the Council.
4) Motion to table the issue for further study or take no action.
