Consider approving Resolution No. 2014-075 authorizing the purchase of sanitary sewer lift station pump equipment from Xylem Water Solutions USA, Inc. in the amount of $69,551.60 relative to the Mercer Crossing Lift Station project and take appropriate action.

BACKGROUND:
Currently, there is a Professional Services Agreement with IDS Engineering Group for the design of a new sanitary sewer lift station to serve the new development within Mercer Crossing area located east of the lake and west of the existing railroad.
Xylem Water Solutions USA, Inc. is a single source vendor for pump equipment on sanitary sewer lift stations. This purchase is relative to the new lift station within Mercer Crossing.
The purchase of pump equipment will allow the City to order the pumps prior to the future contractor being awarded the bid for the new Mercer Crossing Lift Station. When this project bids, the equipment will be available in a more expeditious way which will allow the project to be completed in a more timely fashion. The Mercer Crossing Lift Station is anticipated to advertise for bids in September 2014.
DISCUSSION:
In order to provide sanitary sewer service for the development in the Mercer Crossing area, it is in the best interest of the City to purchase this equipment and provide it to the perspective low bidder. This is due to manufacture's time of delivery of 10-12 weeks. The 2013-2014 Capital Improvement Project, Non Bond Utility fund has a budget of $706,000 for this project and will allow the purchase of the sanitary sewer lift station pump equipment from Xylem Water Solutions USA, Inc. in the amount of $69,551.60.
This purchase is consistent with Core Value No. 5, provide functional, sustainable, and well maintained infrastructure and facilities and equipment.
RECOMMENDATION:
City Administration recommends the approval of Resolution No. 2014-075 authorizing the purchase of sanitary sewer lift station pump equipment from Xylem Water Solutions USA, Inc. in the amount of $69,551.60 relative to the Mercer Crossing Lift Station project.
ACTIONS:

2) Motion to deny Resolution No. 2014-075 authorizing the purchase of sanitary sewer lift station pump equipment from Xylem Water Solutions USA, Inc. in the amount of $69,551.60 relative to the Mercer Crossing Lift Station project.
3) Motion to modify to meet the needs of the Council.
4) Motion to table the issue for further study or take no action.
