Title
Consider approving Resolution No. 2014-081 authorizing the City Manager to purchase a replacement uninterrupted power source system (U.P.S.) for the Police Department from ARC Services utilizing the State of Texas Department of Information Resources contract DIR-SDD-1934, and take appropriate action.
Body
BACKGROUND:
The current uninterrupted power system (U.P.S) was installed in the police building server room during the upgrade of the police building in 1999. This system provides temporary back up power for key police department computers and systems along with other equipment during a power outage until the generator can come on-line and take over providing line power.
DISCUSSION:
Emerson Network Power is the current provider of maintenance services on the Liebert Series 301/302 U.P.S. system and has provided documentation (Attachment 1) that this particular system has reached its "end of life" and will only be covered under full-service maintenance through December, 2016. The most recent maintenance report on the system has also identified that the batteries contained in the U.P.S. system are at their "end of life" and are in need of replacement. The 2013-2014 fiscal year police department fixed asset budget has funds available to purchase and install a new uninterruptible power supply.
