Body
REQUESTER:
Public Works Department
BACKGROUND:
Public Works staff have identified drinking water system improvements for each year as part of the continual evaluation and maintenance of the system. The project focuses on older cast-iron water mains installed in the 1950s and 1960s. To make the selection of areas to be addressed with any replacement, City staff consider several factors, including the age of the infrastructure, its structural integrity, and the estimated cost of repair. For future projects, the Staff is working with a consultant to put together a matrix of repair logs for aging infrastructure throughout the City. Approximately 9,225 linear feet of cast iron water main will be replaced with new PVC lines. The estimated construction timeline is 6 months to complete the entire project. Once the project is awarded to the Contractor, they will develop a timeline for each waterline section. The 2025 Water Main Replacement will be in the following areas:
• Ford Road from Leta Mae Lane to Farmers Branch Lane (1956)
• Longmeade Drive from Webb Chapel Road to Rawhide Parkway (1959)
• Wood Manor Circle from Farmers Branch Lane to Dead End (1961)
• Villa Creek Drive from Josey Lane to 2775 Villa Creek Drive (1968)
• North and South Sunbeck from Josey Lane to Josey Lane (1959)
• Reedcroft Drive from Josey Lane to Dead End (1961)
• Valley View Lane from Webb Chapel Road to Belfield Drive (1955)
• Chapelview Drive from Veronica Road to Westminster Drive (1962)
