Conduct a public hearing and consider adopting Ordinance No. 3302 amending a Specific Use Permit to extend an existing telecommunications tower to 84 feet and to add additional equipment for Lot 5, Block 7, Valwood Park Farmers Branch, Phase 2, commonly known as 13850 Diplomat, located within Planned Development No. 22 (PD-22), and take appropriate action.

BACKGROUND:
Crafton Communications, representing American Tower Corporation, is requesting permission to extend the height of an existing telecommunication tower at this location from 70 feet to 84 feet. The purpose of this extension is to allow a new cell service provider to be located on the tower. In addition extending the height of the tower, the applicant is proposing to install 12 new panels and the needed support brackets at the elevation of 84 feet. The applicant also proposes to modify the base of the tower by removing one existing equipment shed and replacing with two new sheds.
RECOMMENDATION:
On August 25, 2014, the Planning & Zoning Commission voted unanimously to recommend approval of this Specific Use Permit amendment as described in Ordinance No. 3302.
ACTIONS:
1) Motion to adopt Ordinance No. 3302 amending a Specific Use Permit to extend an existing telecommunications tower to 84 feet and to add additional equipment for Lot 5, Block 7, Valwood Park Farmers Branch, Phase 2, commonly known as 13850 Diplomat, located within Planned Development No. 22 (PD-22).
2) Motion to deny Ordinance No. 3302 amending a Specific Use Permit to extend an existing telecommunications tower to 84 feet and to add additional equipment for Lot 5, Block 7, Valwood Park Farmers Branch, Phase 2, commonly known as 13850 Diplomat, located within Planned Development No. 22 (PD-22).
3) Motion to approve Ordinance No. 3302 with modifications.
4) Motion to continue discussion on this case to the next meeting.
