While working on the master plan, numerous facilities in the metroplex were toured and community meetings were held to gather input and review concepts. The plan was reviewed and approved by the Aquatics Task Force and by both the Parks and Recreation and Senior Advisory Boards. The master plan was then adopted by City Council on November 6, 2012.

The focus will be on completing the outdoor element in time for the start of the normal pool season in 2014. The indoor element would still be under construction in the summer of 2014 with the anticipated opening in September or October of 2014.
