Consider approving Resolution No. 2024-242 authorizing the City Manager to execute a purchasing order and such other agreements as may be necessary to effectuate the purchase of Mobile Radio Equipment for use by the Police and Fire Departments, including five (5) years of maintenance for the equipment, pursuant to the City’s joint operations with the North Texas Emergency Communication Center (NTECC) for the amount of $1,897,091.46; and take appropriate actions.

BACKGROUND:
The City of Farmers Branch has a joint operations agreement with the North Texas Emergency Communication Center (NTECC) to purchase, support, and maintain the City’s mobile radio equipment. The City’s Fire and Police Departments currently use radios that were originally purchased in 2015. However, the average life (7 years) for the mobile radio equipment has expired.
DISCUSSION:
NTECC has negotiated discount pricing with Motorola for new mobile radio equipment and maintenance contracts for its member cities, including the cities of Famers Branch, Addison, and Coppell.
City Administration recommends utilizing NTECC’s cooperative purchasing discount pricing for the purchase of new mobile radio equipment and maintenance contracts from Motorola to replace the City’s expired equipment.
