Consider approving Resolution No. 2014-038 appointing a representative to serve on the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Board of Directors and take appropriate action.

BACKGROUND:
Members of DART's Board of Directors serve two (2) year staggered terms pursuant to Section 452.578 of the Texas Transportation Code. In 2011 the DART Board of Directors approved a reappointment plan pairing the City of Plano with the City of Farmers Branch. Ms. Faye Wilkins was appointed to represent both cities at that time and was re-appointed for another term in 2012.
DISCUSSION:
Ms. Wilkins' current term of office will expire on June 30, 2014. The City of Plano will present a resolution appointing Ms.Wilkins to the DART Board of Directors at their meeting to be held on May 27, 2014.
RECOMMENDATION:
City Administration recommends joining with the City of Plano and appointing Faye Wilkins to serve on the DART Board of Directors to represent both cities.
ACTIONS:
1) Motion to approve Resolution No. 2014-038 appointing Faye Wilkins to serve on the Dallas Area Rapid Transit Board of Directors to represent the Cities of Plano and Farmers Branch.
2) Motion to deny Resolution No. 2014-038 appointing Faye Wilkins to serve on the Dallas Area Rapid Transit Board of Directors to represent the Cities of Plano and Farmers Branch.
3) Motion to modify to meet the needs of the Council.
4) Motion to table the issue for further study or take no action.
