Title
Discuss converting residential addresses in the 75244 zip code to the 75234 zip code. (Council Member Jackson)
Body
BACKGROUND:
Farmers Branch has six zip codes, but the most predominant zip codes are 75234 and 75244. Having a unified zip code has been a topic of discussion in the past and recently staff was requested to research the possibility of changing the 75244 zip code to 75234. Staff has done so and the USPS would support this request. However, a sampling of the business community indicates a lack of support to make this change for commercial properties.
DISCUSSION:
This change impacts the identity of Farmers Branch and is brought before Council for further consideration.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No Financial Impact
DISTRICT:
All, but primarily District 4
