BACKGROUND:
The Walmart Foundation wishes to make a donation of $1,500 to the Farmers Branch Police Department on behalf of the local Farmers Branch Walmart store, located at 13307 Midway Road. This generous donation represents Walmart's continued support of the police department's efforts to make Farmers Branch a safer community in which to live and work.
The donation will be utilized to assist the Youth Division of the Police Department in its efforts to positively engage the youth of our community through various police department youth programs and activities. Additionally, the funds will assist with equipment and training needs for the combined North Texas Metro S.W.A.T. Team.
RECOMMENDATION:
City Administration recommends accepting the donation of $1,500 to be used to positively engage the youth in our community and to assist with equipment and training needs for the North Texas Metro S.W.A.T. Team.
ACTIONS:
1) Motion to accept a donation of $1,500 from Walmart to the Farmers Branch Police Department.
2) Motion to deny acceptance of a donation of $1,500 from Walmart to the Farmers Branch Police Department.
3) Motion to modify to meet the needs of the Council.
4) Motion to table the issue for further study or take no action.
