BACKGROUND:
Lincoln Properties is constructing the multi-family development at the northwest corner of Luna Road and Royal Lane in southwest Farmers Branch. During the design of this project, a mutual agreement was reached between the City of Farmers Branch and Lincoln Properties to construct a connection to the Campion Trail (located in the City of Irving) as an amenity to this project. Lincoln Properties provided $100,000 for the design and construction of this connection with the City of Farmers Branch administrating the process. This project required the coordination of the City of Farmers Branch, City of Irving, Lincoln Properties, Dallas County Utility and Reclamation District (DCURD) and a private development in Irving.
DISCUSSION:
On October 8, 2013 five bids were received and opened. The low bid was submitted by Boyd Construction Services, LLC in an amount of $55,713. This contractor has submitted adequate references for similar projects.
The award of this project is consistent with Core Value No. 5 providing functional, sustainable and well-maintained infrastructure, facilities and equipment.
RECOMMENDATION:
City Administration recommends approving Resolution No. 2013-067 authorizing a contract with Boyd Construction Services, LLC in the amount of $55,713 for construction of the Campion Trail Connection.
