Consider approving Resolution No. 2022-141 awarding the purchase for traffic signal cabinets to Paradigm Traffic Systems through the Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (BuyBoard); and take appropriate action.

BACKGROUND:
The Public Works Department is requesting to purchase five (5) TS2 Type 2 signal cabinets by utilizing the Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (BuyBoard) contract pricing. The purpose of this purchase is to continue replacing signal cabinets which are older outdated cabinets and are unable to handle the newer signal technology smart monitors and other components.
DISCUSSION:
The City's signal system consists of 60 signal cabinets of which eleven (11) cabinets remain to be updated and are over 37 years old. Over the past five (5) years, we have updated approximately 6 cabinets each year, however, some of the cabinets have been used to replace damaged cabinets due to vehicle accidents. We are requesting to purchase five (5) more cabinets for the 2022-2023 budget year to continue our replacement program. Funds for the purchase of six (6) signal cabinets was approved in the 2022-2023 Public Works Operating Budget. However, due to the current economic climate, after receiving the BuyBoard quote, cost for the cabinets has increased and budget will only allow for the purchase of five (5) signal cabinets.

RECOMMENDATION:
City Administration recommends approval of Resolution No. 2022-141 awarding the purchase of five traffic signal cabinets to Paradigm Traffic Systems in the amount of $71,750.00 through the Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (BuyBoard) contract pricing.
