Title
Recognize the Police Department for achieving Recognized Status through the Texas Police Chiefs Association.
Body
BACKGROUND:
In 2009 the Farmers Branch Police Department (FBPD) became the 13th police agency in the State of Texas to achieve "Recognized Status" by the Texas Police Chiefs Association. To become recognized a police agency must submit themselves to a thorough review of policies, procedures, facilities, and personnel. Texas Police Chiefs Association has a list of 162 "best practices" that the agency must meet.
In order to maintain "recognized status" the agency must repeat the entire process every four years. The FBPD just completed the process and will again be named a "Recognized Police Department" by the Texas Police Chiefs Association at tonight's meeting.
ACTIONS:
1. No action is required by Council.
