BACKGROUND:
As part of the City's ongoing commitment to fostering sustainable economic growth and ensuring the City remains competitive within the regional market, the City uses economic incentive agreements to promote business acquisition, retention, and expansion, which further strengthen the local business environment, assist with job creation, and expand the City's tax base.
TDIndustries, Inc., is a Texas domestic corporation operating from existing facilities at 13850 Diplomat Drive and 13755 Diplomat Drive, Farmers Branch, Texas, with approximately 120,000 square feet of space used for corporate headquarters and manufacturing. TDIndustries has over 3,100 employee-owners and 15 locations nationwide, including its corporate headquarters in Farmers Branch.
TDIndustries, Inc. has indicated its intent to retain its corporate headquarters in the City of Farmers Branch. Under Article III, Section 52-a of the Texas Constitution and Chapter 380 of the Texas Local Government Code, the City is authorized to offer economic development incentives to promote economic development, stimulate commercial activity, and enhance the City's property tax base and economic vitality.
DISCUSSION:
Approval of Resolution No. 2026-076 authorizes the City Manager to negotiate and execute an Economic Development Agreement with TDIndustries, Inc. to support the company's headquarters remaining in the City of Farmers Branch. The agreement is expected to contribute to economic growth by attracting new business activity, strengthening the City's commercial base, and advancing long-term economic development objectives.
