Consider adopting Ordinance No. 3986 calling for the May 2, 2026, General Election for the position of Mayor and District 2 City Councilmember, authorizing the City Manager to execute an election services contract with the Dallas County Elections Department; and take appropriate action.

BACKGROUND:
In order to fill expiring terms for the position of Mayor and District 2 City Councilmember, the City Council must order an election to be held on May 2, 2026.
DISCUSSION:
Adopting Ordinance No. 3986 authorizes the City to hold a general election for the purpose of electing a Mayor and a District 2 City Councilmember and authorizes the execution of an election contract with Dallas County Elections.
Staff will be available for any questions the Council may have.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds have been budgeted and approved for Fiscal Year 2025-26.
