Consider approving Resolution No. 2024-199 authorizing the submission of a grant application and agreement with the Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority under the Catalytic Converter Grant Program to support law enforcement agencies in preventing economic motor vehicle theft; and take appropriate action.

BACKGROUND:
The Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority has authorized the issuance of the Fiscal Year 2025 Request for Applications related to the Catalytic Converter Grant Program. Senate Bill 244 states that funds deposited to the General Revenue Fund for coordinated regulatory and law enforcement activities intended to detect and prevent catalytic converter theft in the State may be appropriated to the authority for the activities required.
This grant does possess a cash match requirement of 20%. The grant submission deadline is November 12, 2024.
DISCUSSION:
With this grant application, the Police Department will purchase additional FLOCK cameras and related software. These cameras will be placed around the City, and the related software will assist with detecting stolen vehicles and wanted individuals, including catalytic converter thefts.
FISCAL IMPACT:
100 % Federal reimbursement up to $100,000, with a 20% cash match required. The match of $25,000 is budgeted in fiscal year 2024-25.
