BACKGROUND:
The Senlac Service Center serves as a vital municipal fleet fueling hub for Public Works and emergency support assets, operating infrastructure originally installed in 1992. Having been in service for 34 years, the existing tanks, piping, and dispensing equipment have exceeded their 20-to-30-year engineering design life, creating significant operational risks, equipment obsolescence, and potential environmental liability. To reduce these risks and ensure operational continuity, the Fleet Maintenance Department proposes a complete modernization of the facility to replicate the proven technology and system architecture successfully implemented at the Justice Center fuel site.
A comprehensive replacement entails removing and modernizing every layer of the fueling infrastructure. The legacy 6,800-gallon units will be replaced with two new 12,000-gallon aboveground storage tanks (unleaded and diesel), expanding capacity to capture bulk-purchase price savings and provide supply chain resilience during emergencies or delivery disruptions. The scope includes all-new piping, modern high-efficiency dispensing pumps, a dedicated 330-gallon monitored Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) system, and centralized electronic fuel tracking and access controls to securely manage authorization, automate transaction logging, and unify fleet data Citywide.
