BACKGROUND:
Section 9.20 of the City's Charter requires that prior to the first day of July of each year ending in “3” or “8” the City Council shall appoint a committee for the purpose of determining whether amendments to the Charter are needed.
 
At the meeting held on April 16, 2013, the City Council nominated representatives to serve on the Charter Review Committee.  
 
DISCUSSION:
The proposed resolution provides for the appointment of the members to serve on the Charter Review Committee and provides committee guidelines.
 
RECOMMENDATION:
City Administration recommends members of the City Council adopt Resolution No. 2013-025 establishing a Charter Review Committee.
 
ACTIONS:
  1. Motion to approve Resolution No. 2013-025 establishing a Charter Review Committee.
  2. Motion to deny Resolution No. 2013-025 establishing a Charter Review Committee.
  3. Motion to modify to meet the needs of the Council.
  4. Motion to table the issue for further study or take no action.
