BACKGROUND:
During the April 16, 2024, Study Session, staff presented and discussed proposed amendments to the budget, with the GapVax Sewer Vacuum truck as one of the items discussed based on the City's needs.
The City of Farmers Branch currently has only one vacuum sewer utility truck in its inventory, which was purchased in 2014 for $300,000. Since its purchase, over $200,000 has been spent on maintenance and repairs. Typically, building one would take two (2) years. However, with another municipality unable to fund their order of a GapVax, the City has an opportunity to purchase and receive the truck by October 2024.
DISCUSSION:
The City of Farmers Branch requested quotations from the TIPS Purchasing Cooperative. The City Administration evaluated the quotations to meet specifications and desires to award the purchase of the Gapvax Vacuum Sewer Utility Truck to Lonestar Municipal Equipment. The vehicle cost is $415,000, and the additional items needed to furnish the vehicle fully cost $547,483.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This is an unbudgeted financial impact of $547,483 from the fund balance, which will be a mid-year budget adjustment.
