Discussion of the Short-Term Rental Program and Hotel/Motel Taxes.

BACKGROUND:
Code Enforcement is working with Host Compliance, a third-party contractor, for the Short-Term Rental program. The staff has worked with the company to improve the program and has now implemented Compliance Monitoring and a 24/7 Hotline to assist in monitoring and tracking short-term rentals.
Economic Development will provide an update on the taxes and the research conducted in surrounding cities. City staff was requested to review the City of Dallas Hotel/Motel tax, and the surrounding areas were also reviewed for alignment. The City of Farmers Branch has a 7% Hotel/Motel Tax, which aligns with the City of Carrollton and the Town of Addison. Outlying areas, including Dallas and Irving, charge a 9% Hotel/Motel Tax.
DISCUSSION:
Code Enforcement will be providing an update regarding the new features of Host Compliance and providing short-term rental data.

Staff will be present to answer any questions.
