BACKGROUND:
Farmers Branch is a diverse city that celebrates many cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives that make our community unique. The proposed calendar of events has been created to highlight our community's diversity through social media engagement.
The City Council calendar of events was discussed at the March 4, March 18, and May 20, 2025, City Council meetings, with no formal action taken.
At the May 20, 2025, City Council meeting, direction was given by the City Council to amend the calendar to include not only cultural and city service recognition items, but also the following holidays for recognition, aligning with state and federal holidays:
- City holidays and Federal holidays that include: Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
- Columbus Day
- Washington’s Birthday (President’s Day)
- Military Appreciation Month
- Texas Independence Day
- Religious Freedom Day
- Constitution Day
The items included on the proposed calendar of events will be acknowledged on the City’s social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
