Consider approving Resolution No. 2026-089 canvassing and declaring the election results of the June 13, 2026, City of Farmers Branch Runoff Election for the office of the Mayor, issuing the Certificate of Election; and take appropriate action.

BACKGROUND:
The City of Farmers Branch conducted a General Election on May 2, 2026, for the purpose of electing a City Council representative for the office of Mayor.
No candidate in the Mayoral race held on May 2, 2026, received more than 50 percent of the votes cast. In accordance with applicable State Election requirements and the City Charter, a runoff election was held on June 13, 2026.
Dallas County Elections administered the election in accordance with applicable state election laws and procedures. Following the completion of the official canvass process, the election results were certified for the City Council's consideration.
The candidate receiving the majority of votes is as follows:
- Mayoral Candidate: Terry Lynne received 50.30% of the votes cast.
Having received the majority of the votes cast, with 50.30%, Candidate Terry Lynne has been declared duly elected to the office of Mayor.
DISCUSSION:
Resolution No. 2026-089 formally canvases the results of the June 13, 2026, Runoff Election, declares the official outcome for the office of the Mayor, and issues the Certificate of Election.
The certified results for the office of the Mayor are as follows:
- Mayoral Candidate: Terry Lynne received 50.30% of the votes cast.
Having received a majority of the votes cast, Terry Lynne is declared duly elected as the Mayor for the City of Farmers Branch.
