BACKGROUND:
Maintaining City facilities protects the City's investment in public assets, helps prevent costly emergency repairs, and ensures facilities remain safe, reliable, and functional for employees and the public. Annual infrastructure planning, combined with the comprehensive facilities assessment, allows the City to prioritize capital improvements based on objective data, support long-term financial planning, and address the most critical building needs in alignment with the City Council's Strategic Goal of investing in high-quality assets.

As part of the effort to meet the current City Council Strategic Goal, “Investing in Maintaining and Providing High Quality Assets,” staff annually identifies building infrastructure projects needed for City facilities for the current fiscal year. In addition, a complete Facilities Assessment with consultant LAN is being conducted on all City Facilities. This study will identify and rank building infrastructure projects that will need to be addressed.

Preliminary results of the Facility Assessment Study indicate that the roof of the Gilbert House should be replaced. The scope of work requires replacing the trusses and installing new decking as required for the new style of shingles.

This project is crucial to maintaining the City’s current facility infrastructure, and timely updates are necessary to provide a safe and welcoming environment for our staff and community.
