Title
Presentation From The State Fire Marshal’s Office And The Insurance Services Office (ISO) Recognizing Farmers Branch’s Upgrade To A Class 1 Public Protection Classification.
Body
BACKGROUND:
ISO collects and evaluates information from communities on their structure fire suppression capabilities. The data is analyzed using ISO’s Fire Suppression Rating Schedule (FSRS) and then a Public Protection Classification (PPC) grade is assigned - a number from 1 to 10. Class 1 represents an exemplary fire suppression program. A community’s PPC grade depends on: emergency communications; fire department; needed fire flows; and water supply.
Jesse Williams the PPC Oversight Officer of the State Fire Marshal’s Office, and Phillip Bradley the Texas Manager for ISO will present the City with a plaque recognizing Farmers Branch’s upgrade to a Class 1 Public Protection Classification. Nationwide there are about 300 ISO Class 1 cities and about 63 Class 1 communities in Texas. The upgrade to the Class 1 PPC becomes effective on December 1, 2018.
