Body
REQUESTOR:
Finance, Fleet, and Facilities Department
BACKGROUND:
Senlac Service Center is a city-owned property built in 1967 that houses the Public Works and Parks & Recreation Department’s field staff and equipment.
On May 28, 2024, Ridgeline Integrated Solutions inspected and sampled the office building for asbestos. This is a routine step that must be completed before major renovation projects. During the inspection, asbestos was detected throughout the building. To continue the renovation, asbestos must be abated per US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) guidelines through a licensed company registered and monitored by the Texas Department of State Health Services. The Asbestos laws and regulations prevent occupational and environmental diseases by identifying, evaluating, and controlling the removal and disposal of asbestos material.
DISCUSSION:
The job was competitively bid. The Department received three responsive bids. An evaluation committee reviewed and scored the bids on price and scope. After review, it was determined that Excellence Ecological Services was the best value proposer.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Budgeted Financial Impact of $83,750 from the Capital Project Senlac Service Center Fund.
