Discuss topics for the City Council Strategic Planning Session.

BACKGROUND:
This agenda item aims to allow the City Council to discuss the planning topics for the upcoming Strategic Planning Session.
DISCUSSION:
Each year, before the budget cycle, the City Council and the City Staff work together to develop the City’s strategic alignment to ensure the best use of time, money, and people by allocating resources to issues that will have the most impact. In this process, the City leadership reviews and discusses the plan’s tenets and provides direction to City staff in finalizing the strategic plan.
During budget preparation, the City Council and staff use the strategic plan as a guide for budget decisions, specifically to compare the plan’s priorities versus the budget priorities. A strategic plan empowers the Council and staff to make the right decisions and actions.
This year’s Strategic Planning Session is on Tuesday, February 8, 2024.
Over the past several months, City staff has developed a list (below) of possible topics mentioned by the Council and additional areas of potential interest.
