BACKGROUND:
Each year, the City Council conducts its annual workshop to consider appointments to fill Board, Commission, and Committee vacancies, as well as reappointments. The City Council met on May 13, 2025, to discuss these appointments.
A total of 20 applications were received this year to consider filling 13 vacancies and also consider 37 reappointments. A proposed slate list was created from the work session. Once applicants have been appointed, the City Secretary’s office will notify all applicants of appointments and reappointments made. For those applicants who were not appointed, applications will be held for one year to fill possible vacancies in the future.
Special Consideration
On May 15, 2025, the Administrative Services Department was notified that a vacancy had occurred on the Valwood Improvement Authority Board. The Valwood Improvement Authority was first enacted by legislation for the purposes of flood control in the Valwood district to be led by a board of directors selected from the cities of Farmers Branch and Carrollton. The City of Farmers Branch appoints three positions to the board of directors.
The City Secretary’s Office has received one application for the current vacancy. The application has been sent to the Council under a separate attachment.
