Consider adopting Ordinance No. 3949, amending Chapter 22, Article VII.5 of the Farmers Branch Code of Ordinances by adopting the 2024 edition of the International Fuel Gas Code with certain additions, deletions, and amendments; and take appropriate action.

BACKGROUND:
The City has been enforcing the 2018 International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) since January 1, 2020. Staff’s proposed adoption of the 2024 IFGC maintains alignment with current industry standards, best practices, and regional code consistency through the North Texas Council of Governments (NTCOG).
DISCUSSION:
The proposed ordinance presents the most current edition, the 2024 International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC). Some notable changes to the 2024 IBC are:
1. Added additional requirements for safe access to equipment.
2. Added the prohibited use of unvented room heaters as a sole source of heat in a dwelling unit.
