BACKGROUND:
On November 18, 2025, Resolution No. 2025-225 was approved, reestablishing a Charter Review Committee and appointing members to review the City’s Charter, with proposed amendments to be placed on the ballot for the May 2027 election. The members of Council have submitted topics of discussion for the Committee’s consideration to staff, which were presented to the Charter Review Committee at their December 17, 2025, meeting.
On December 9, 2025, the staff presented the Charter Review Committee discussion items for the City Council’s review. During this meeting, the Council discussed topics not included on the list to be added. Since this meeting, Staff have also received additional topics of discussion, which have been included in the attached Charter Review Committee Discussion Items List. The items added to the document since the December 9, 2025, City Council meeting have been highlighted.
DISCUSSION:
The Council will discuss the additional topics provided to staff and determine if any additions or amendments are needed. Staff will be available to answer any questions the Council may have.
