BACKGROUND:
The City of Farmers Branch remains committed to supporting programs and partnerships that enhance the quality of life for residents and contribute to a vibrant, connected community. The Firehouse Theatre plays an important role in advancing these goals by providing high-quality performing arts programming, educational opportunities, and cultural experiences that enrich the lives of residents and visitors. Through its productions, youth programs, and community engagement efforts, the Firehouse Theatre fosters creativity, cultural appreciation, and community connection.
As part of this commitment, the City of Farmers Branch provides financial support to the Firehouse Theatre through a five-year service agreement that helps ensure continued access to affordable and diverse arts programming for the community. The current agreement, approved in January 2026, requires an annual update to the City Council regarding programs and services provided, organizational accomplishments, attendance and participation metrics, and the overall impact of The Firehouse Theatre on the Farmers Branch community.
Additionally, the Firehouse Theatre receives up to $20,000 annually in service credits through its Facility Use Agreement with the City in exchange for providing agreed-upon City benefits and promotional opportunities.
DISCUSSION:
The Firehouse Theatre will provide an update to the City Council, including information on their Strategic Plan, upcoming programming, attendance information, and media performance.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Budgeted annual amount of $250,000.
