Consider approving Resolution No. 2024-222 canvassing and declaring the results of the November 5, 2024, Special Election for City Council District 2, issue Certificates of Election; and take appropriate action.

BACKGROUND:

The City of Farmers Branch held a Special Election on November 5, 2024, for the purpose of electing a member of the City Council to fill a vacancy in the current unexpired term for District 2. The candidate receiving a majority of the votes cast for District 2 with 55.96% of the votes was Tina Bennett-Burton. Resolution No. 2024-222 canvasses the election results.

 

Having received a majority of the votes cast, Dallas County Elections declared Tina Bennett-Burton as the unofficial winner as City Councilmember for District 2.

 

The official certified final report will be released from the Dallas County Elections Department on November 14, 2024. This final report verifies all mail-in, overseas, and provisional ballots are counted. The canvassing resolution attached, containing the unofficial results, may be updated based on the certified final report.
