BACKGROUND:
The First Responder Institute will bring the Firefighter Challenge World Championship to Dallas College Brookhaven Campus from Monday, October 20, to Saturday, October 25. This event is expected to attract over 400 athletes and 600-800 spectators.
The City of Farmers Branch plans to contribute up to $10,000 from the Hotel Occupancy Fund. Additionally, FRI will have permission to connect to an on-site hydrant, and the City will assist with promoting the event to potential volunteers.
DISCUSSION:
The City of Farmers Branch has reached an event sponsorship agreement with FRI for the placement of the City logo, promotional video content, and an opportunity for members of the Farmers Branch Fire Department. The Farmers Branch city logo will be used in all marketing efforts and featured on key signage, entrances, the website, and T-shirts. The hotel occupancy tax fund will provide funding for the event sponsorship agreement.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Budgeted Financial Impact up to $10,000 from the Hotel Occupancy Fund.
