BACKGROUND:
The Farmers Branch Historical Park requested bids for exterior restoration of the Dodson House; a Recorded Texas Historical Landmark and the home of the first Mayor of Farmers Branch. Built in 1937, the Dodson House is utilized for weddings, rentals, special event support, and offices. The exterior siding will be repaired/replaced, doors and windows will be repaired, the exterior will be painted, and the roof will be replaced.
DISCUSSION:
Bid requests were advertised and sent to sixteen (16) vendors. Three (3) bids were received and opened on July 17, 2014. The low bid received met specifications and the bid total is $68,532. Funds are available for this project in the Historical Park's building maintenance account.
This item furthers Core Value #4 providing beautifully maintained natural environments, parks, rights-of-way, and green space and a wide variety of quality recreational and entertainment opportunities for all ages.
RECOMMENDATION:
City Administration recommends approving Resolution No. 2014-064 authorizing a contract for the exterior restoration of the Dodson House located at the Historical Park.
ACTIONS:
1) Motion to approve Resolution No. 2014-064 authorizing a contract for the exterior restoration of the Dodson House located at the Historical Park.
2) Motion to deny Resolution No. 2014-064 authorizing a contract for the exterior restoration of the Dodson House located at the Historical Park.
3) Motion to modify to meet the needs of the Council.
4) Motion to table the issue for further study or take no action.
