BACKGROUND:

On November 18, 2025, the City’s legal representation and current engagement letter with Wyatt, Hamilton, and Findlay were terminated, and the City reengaged its long-standing legal firm, Nichols, Jackson, Dillard, Hager, and Smith, LLP (NJDHS). NJDHS previously served as the City’s legal counsel from 2008 through 2024 and is returning after a one-year interval to resume providing legal services to the City.

 

DISCUSSION:

Resolution No. 2025-252 affirms engagement with Nichols, Jackson, Dillard, Hager, and Smith, LLP (NJDHS) as the City’s legal counsel and authorizes the City Manager to execute on the City’s behalf any necessary or appropriate documents and to accept and approve such contract amendments as the City Manager deems reasonable and necessary, in compliance with applicable law and City policy.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

The fee schedule is attached as part of the Engagement Letter.
