BACKGROUND:
The FY 2012-2013 Fixed Asset Fund for vehicle/equipment replacement includes nine (9) replacement vehicles for Community Services, Parks and Recreation and Fire Departments. The vehicles being replaced meet the recommended replacement criteria based on life cycle costs, age, and utilization.
This item supports the City of Farmers Branch Core Value #5 to provide functional, sustainable and well-maintained infrastructure, facilities and equipment.
DISCUSSION:
The City of Farmers Branch requested quotations from the Houston-Galveston Area Council Purchasing Cooperative. City Administration evaluated the quotation as to meeting specifications and desire to award the purchase of the replacement vehicles to Five Star Ford.
The FY 2012-2013 budget amount for these replacement vehicles is $270,400 with the quotation being $229,261. The remaining $41,139 will be used to purchase emergency lighting, tool boxes, computer stands, etc to properly equip the vehicles before they are put into service.
RECOMMENDATION:
City Administration recommends approving the purchase of the nine (9) replacement vehicles from Five Star Ford through the Houston, Galveston Area Council Purchasing Cooperative.
